One of my top priorities as a local MPis advocating for more road and active transport investment.
That investment is about getting you where you’re going faster and safer – that means more time at home with your families, and less time in your car getting from point A to point B.
It’s also delivering hundreds of jobs for local workers.
So I’m pleased to announce the next major milestone of our signature M1 and Busway project is due for completion next month when we open the new Lexington Road on-ramp. It’s designed to reduce the chance of vehicle accidents, increasing safety and preventing traffic jams.
It does mean some adjustments to the way we’re used to doing things – it’s the biggest change to our local roads since the Gateway Merge upgrade. The new on-ramp at Lexington Road at the intersection of Logan and Compton Roads is just south of the current on-ramp at Sports Drive. For travellers heading northbound onto the M1, it’s a straightforward merge from Lexington Road. Local road users can get onto Logan Road from the left lane, doing a quick loop around a roundabout to access local roads. The new Veloway will pass over the top of the on-ramp, giving safe access for cyclists.
The Sports Drive on-ramp will close once the Lexington Road on-ramp opens to traffic.

We’ve organised local information sessions for anyone who wants to understand more about the new on-ramp or our plan of upgrade works for the M1. There are still a few sessions available if you want to attend:
· Arndale Shopping Centre, Springwood: 29 March 2022, 11 am – 1 pm and 31 March 2022, 3 pm – 5 pm
- Logan North Library, Underwood: 30 March 2022, 11 am – 1 pm
