Teens charged after two hour police chase involving chopper and dog squad

A two-hour chase between a police chopper, the dog squad and two teenage boys has left the latter with court dates.

According to police, officers were conducting patrols in Cinderella Drive, Springwood at around 9.50pm on 3 April, when they observed an allegedly stolen Volvo.

“Polair commenced tracking the vehicle from Springwood Road throughout Logan,” police said in a statement.

“The vehicle was located abandoned at Pine Drive, Woodridge just after midnight.”

A police dog squad unit then tracked the car’s occupants for fifteen minutes from Pine Drive to an unspecified “residence”, where two teenage boys were arrested.

“It will be alleged the Volvo was stolen from a residence in Elizabeth Street, Rochedale in the early hours of Saturday morning,” police said.

A 15-year-old Woodridge boy has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle, receiving tainted property and possession of a drug utensil.

A 17-year-old Loganlea boy has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Both boys are due to appear before Brisbane Childrens Court on 5 May.
