Logan’s chief superintendent of police Brian Swan is set for bigger things, having last week been named one of four new assistant commisioners for Queensland.
The role will support Commissioner Katarina Carroll who announced her new offsiders.
Now assistant commissioner Swan has only been in his role in Logan for 12 months, but he has strong ties to the area.
Up until 2009, he was a senior investigator in the region for 15 years, before moving to the Ethical Standards Command.
He was detective inspector at the Gold Coast and detective superintendent in Toowoomba before taking the top job in Logan.
He is passionate about ensuring police maintain social ties with the community to ensure the public are playing a role in crime prevention.
Other assistant commissioners are Mark Wheeler from the Gold Coast, Katherine Innes from the Crime and Intelligence Command and Brian Connors from Operations Support Command.
“This is a significant achievement in their careers and I look forward to working with them in their new roles on the QPS executive leadership team,” Commissioner Carroll said.
“The Queensland Police Service is undergoing an important transformation with the Service Alignment Program to better align resources based on capability and service delivery.
“I know these highly regarded officers will be valuable members of the executive leadership team, as we steer the organisation through significant change.”
The assistant commissioners will take up their new positions in the next month.
