SuperCARnival: Full throttle festivities

Thousands of locals were revved up to meet their idols at the official SuperCARnival event in Flagstone.

This third annual celebration connected fans from the western region to the Gold Coast 500 on Friday, October 19 – featuring live entertainment, go-karts, slot cars, food, and over 100 classic, racing, and custom cars on display.

Supercar drivers Nick Percet and Aaron Love joined fans for the afternoon, signing autographs and chatting all things racing.

Fresh off the Bathurst track, the drivers even competed against one another on a racing simulator.

Mr Percat made his SuperCARnival debut this year following several wins in the 2024 Supercars Championship Series.

He said meeting so many fans in person was a great way to build anticipation ahead of the GC 500.

“It’s been fantastic to celebrate our recent wins with so many of our fans,” Mr Percat said.

“We’ve all been encouraged by their support and feel chuffed to be a part of this event which clearly means a lot to the local community.

“We hope we can do the locals proud in our final races for the season.”

One of the most popular activities at the event was the Flagstone “super lap”, which involved locals riding in an official Subaru WRX Race Control Car around the suburb.

Professional drift driver Rob Whyte and SuperUte driver Holly Espray were also on site showing off a drift race car and an Izuzu V8 SuperUte.

Five local fans even won VIP tickets to the GC 500.

The event is co-run by property developer Peet.

Project director Troy Thompson said the event was becoming a “conerstone” of the commmunity.

“Over three consecutive years, our partnership with the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 has brought Flagstone residents together and inspired a shared love of motorsports,” Mr Thompson said.

“We’re pleased to see so many locals and families from surrounding suburbs embrace the excitement and get involved this year.

“For many visitors here today, the SuperCARnival is an opportunity to experience the Supercars Championship up close and to meet their heroes – all within their own neighbourhood.

“It’s our hope the event will remain a highlight on the local calendar and continue to bring the community together for years to come.”
