Super Bowl celebrations kicked off early in Logan on Monday morning.
By the time the NFL championship game kicked off at 9.30am, The Sporting Globe at the Hyperdome was lined with streamers, banners, balloons and a long queue of eager locals waiting outside.
Paulie and Karen watched the game outside the bar, away from the lively crowd inside.
Paulie is an avid supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs, the reigning champions who were playing for a hat trick.
He enjoys the game so much that he took the day off work.
“Last year I was doing FIFO and couldn’t have the day off, so I was watching it on my phone,” he said.
“So today I thought I might take the day off.”
Monday marked the second Super Bowl in three years where the Chiefs battled the Philadelphia Eagles.
While the Chiefs were victorious in the past, Paulie wasn’t confident his team could secure another win.
“It’s really hard to tell,” he said.
“At the moment, the Eagles have the advantage… in both defence and offence.
“I know it’s only the first quarter, but to me, the Chiefs look a bit shaky.”
