Party:Â Australian Labor Party
Why should people vote for you?
I am proud to have been the Member for Macalister since the seat was created in 2017. In that time, I am pleased to have been able to deliver record investments in our local schools and kickstarted our Beenleigh Better Roads along with the works along Beenleigh-Redland Bay Road. And there is still so much more work to do.
I am pleased to have secured the land for Beenleigh’s new emergency services precinct. The combined Police and Ambulance station will ensure that these facilities are able to cater for the growth in frontline service workers that our government is delivering.
The new Beenleigh Train station, ironically located where the old one was, will be a modern transport hub to service the expected population growth in Beenleigh and the surrounding areas. With more bus services from our growth areas, including Bahrs Scrub, integrating into the interchange, we are encouraging more locals to commute on public transport where possible. And best of all, our 50 cent fares make it affordable for all residents.
And finally, it is only a re-elected Labor government that will deliver a satellite hospital for Beenleigh. Open 7 days a week til late, a satellite hospital will take pressure off our busy Logan Hospital and ensure that patients are not waiting days to get minor injuries and illnesses seen to before they become serious ones – broken arms, cuts and abrasions and ear infections – if you can’t get into see your GP that day the satellite hospital will be your next stop, not the ED at Logan Hospital.
These are the things that matter, and I can’t wait to see these projects delivered in Macalister.

Occupation: Key Account Manager
Party: LNP
Why should people vote for you?
My working background is in land surveying, firstly working for a private company in Brisbane, and later running my own surveying business which included working as a contract surveyor for Logan City Council. For the past 12 years I have worked for C.R. Kennedy & Company providing surveying solutions to the surveying industry and working my way up from Technical Consultant to Key Account Manager for QLD meeting the technical requirements for many large surveying firms throughout QLD.
Having supported our youngest son battle with his mental health, I have a passion for seeing the mental health system revamped.
I also have a passion for active transport and making places more friendly for walking and riding, particularly for kids to be able to walk and ride to school.
Why am I running for parliament? I want to make a difference, a difference for the people of Macalister and difference to the people of Queensland. As I meet people in the electorate, I am constantly hearing about crime, the cost of living, the housing crisis, lack of transport and poor roads.
I believe I have the skills, knowledge and desire to make a difference and, along with the Crisafulli LNP team, I will deliver the right priorities for Macalister and Queensland.
Name: Liam Johns
Age: 30
Occupation: International tax consultant
Party:Â Greens
Why should people vote for you?
Liam is a Beenleigh local, committed volunteer and lawyer with a strong social justice ethos. Liam believes that education should be free so everyone has the same opportunity for a good life after school — regardless of who your parents are or where you live. Childcare, kindy, public schools and TAFE should be free and well-funded so families in Logan don’t need to choose between sending their children on excursions and putting food in their lunchbox. Rent in Beenleigh has doubled in the last few years with houses older than our grandparents renting for more than a regular mortgage. Liam will fight for the people in Macalister to have access to affordable housing, quality education, frequent and reliable public transport and a future we can all look forward to.

Why should people vote for you?
Hello Macalister!
Hear me now…
My idea of a Member of Parliament is a Messenger who has been voted by the majority (because of their integrity and courage) to represent them in the State Parliament.
Why should people vote for me?
Anyone who dealt with me as a Police Officer in the Logan District for nearly twenty years, either on the road or triple zero, will vouch for both – integrity and courage.
You trusted me when I represented law and order in a blue shirt, you respected my knowledge of the law, you trusted me with your welfare and freedom. I would like you to do so again.
I hope you will agree that one of the most valuable commodities in the world these days is trust.
I would like to earn your trust, be the Messenger.
The Hemp Industry is on our doorstep, Big Pharma is coming and we must get a move on. Our future generations will take pride working in an industry that is actually good for the environment.
Allow me to give you one reason to give me a #1…
the Legalise Cannabis Queensland Party’s slogan –
“Freedom of choice”… let us not give that privilege away.
One policy – only common sense.
