The City of Logan is renowned for its rich sporting heritage.
The investment by the Brisbane Lions Football Club in a youth academy at Mabel Park State High School last year is a testament to the city’s reputation for nurturing talented athletes and providing them with opportunities to excel.
The academy highlights the vital role that sports play in building and encouraging leadership skills among our youth.
Not only does it provide invaluable training and coaching to our aspiring athletes it also contributes to the development of a healthier and more connected community.
Having personally experienced the positive impact of sports in my own life and that of my children, I believe that participation in sporting clubs and organisations teaches essential values such as teamwork, responsibility, perseverance, discipline, and healthy competition.
By providing access to elite coaching and training, we are paving the way for our young talents to unlock their full potential and become not only successful athletes but also future leaders.
It shapes individuals’ characters and serves as a guiding force throughout their lives and offers a promising pathway for our youth, empowering them to become role models and ambassadors for the City of Logan.
Last Thursday I had the privilege of checking in with the students and presenting them with their uniform and apparel.
The launch of the Mabel Park Lions Academy marks a new chapter in Logan’s sporting legacy.
It indicates our unwavering commitment to supporting our youth and creating a vibrant and thriving community.
The benefits of this program extend far beyond the boundaries of Mabel Park, reaching all corners of Logan.
The Logan Lions Academy will serve as a beacon of inspiration for generations to come.
Together, let’s celebrate this milestone and embrace the boundless opportunities that lie ahead for our talented athletes and future leaders.
We eagerly await the emergence of AFL and AFLW superstars who will proudly represent our city on the national stage.
