Logan Hospital officially knights thee “Sir Lift-a-Lot”.
It’s the new name for a 38.9-metre crane that will help complete the hospital’s 8-storey carpark.
The name was the result of a competition which was won by Year 1 Edens Landing State School student Kai Pham who came up with the inventive name.
There were more than 50 entries from 30 schools.
The new name will be displayed on the crane for the next 12 months.
“It’s cute and it explains what he does,” Kai, aged 6, said.
Member for Waterford Shannon Fentiman said construction was progressing well on the project, which would ultimately deliver 1500 undercover parking spaces for patients, families and staff.
“The construction team has already poured more than 3000 cubic metres of concrete on the structure, reaching level four,” Ms Fentiman said.
“The $460 million expansion is one of Queensland largest ever hospital expansions and will deliver an additional 206 beds and treatment spaces, ensuring the local community receives the best care, close to home.”
Construction will continue to ramp up in the coming year with work commencing on the Maternity Refurbishment in early 2021 followed by the major hospital expansion later in the year.
