Simply Beans has brewed up a win as The City of Logan’s business of the year.
The Logan-born coffee supplier took home the major prize and best large retailer at the 2024 Logan Chamber of Commerce Business Distinction Awards on Friday night.
Founded in 2009, Simply Beans Coffee Roast Specialists has expanded into a wide range of services, including retail and wholesale sales, an espresso bar/café, coffee workshop facilities, in-house tech repairs, and a growing wholesale community.
Founder Deborah Anapo said it was “overwhelming” to be named business of the year.
“It makes the last 16 years’ worth it,” she said.
“It makes you feel like you’ve done something worthwhile, and you have added to your community.”
She said turning Simply Beans into the business it is took “a lot of work”.
“Lots of days and lots of nights,” Ms Anapo said.
“You don’t turn off at five o’clock, you keep going and keep going – it’s a sacrifice.”
Ms Anapo said successful businesses were important because of their impact on local families and communities.
“If our businesses are doing well, it affects them,” she said.
“We no longer look just at what we do, we look at the families that we support in our employees.”
Winner of Logan’s small business of the year was Live Fit Gym, a “community focused” gym that operates out of Yarrabilba.
