Ratepayers will help fund a Latin music concert and workshops, an illustrated book series and a biographical short-form documentary under the latest round of council arts funding.
Seven creative arts professionals have been awarded more than $47,000 collectively.
Funding is a partnership between council and the state government, and projects include:
• Cameron Stelzer for production of 10 illustrated books using animal characters to explore challenges faced by primary school students.
• ChooseDay Studios Pty Ltd for a biographical documentary telling the story of City of Logan indigenous community leader Aunty Faith Green from Kingston-based Indigenous organisation Gunya Meta.
• Christina Lowry to produce photographs of the current pandemic in the style similar to how 17th century Dutch painters responded to the plague.
• Rhiannon D Elton to complete 10 books and produce an audiobook of one story.
• Blank Street Press to employ three emerging local arts workers for the launch of a City of Logan version of the publication.
• Sandra Real for The Sounds of Latin America music concert and workshops in the City of Logan.
• Jessica Skeen-McKinnon for the Skeen Family Showcase which will feature artworks from seven members of the Skeen family at Logan Art Gallery in June-July next year.
