Rotary gets hands dirty at tree planting

Four of Logan’s Rotary clubs came together last month to bring their national centenary celebrations to a close with an official tree planting.

A new avenue of established native trees stand proudly in Shailer Pioneer Park, Shailer Park, with Rotary members from Beenleigh, Browns Plains, Logan and Loganholme clubs getting their hands dirty.

Rotary Club of Logan president Kathryn Hester said she was thrilled to see the project finally come together after 12 months of planning.

“We hope these trees are standing for well over another 100 years in the area and continue to showcase just some of the great work Rotary does in the community” Ms Hester said.

The initiative supports Logan City Council’s strategy to provide attractive shaded areas in public parks. To commemorate the event, members unveiled a plaque set in sandstone at the entry to the avenue.
