Member for Waterford and new Attorney-General Shannon Fentiman said on Friday she was proud to provide a strong justice system for all Queenslanders – one that they can trust and have confidence in.
“I am absolutely honoured to take up the role of Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Minister for Women and the Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence,” she said.
“And as Queensland’s first Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, it is a privilege to be given this opportunity once more to continue our fight to protect Queensland families.
“Now more than ever it is crucial that Queenslanders have a fair and just legal system as we focus on our economic recovery post COVID.”
Member for Woodridge and State Treasurer Cameron Dick has been given the added portfolio of Investment.
After a meeting with new deputy Charis Mullen on Thursday, he prioritised the state’s economic recovery plan and the long-awaited state budget.
“I look forward to working with all colleagues as we focus on restoring the strength of the Queensland economy and creating jobs for all Queenslanders,” he said.
Member for Springwood Mick de Brenni is no longer responsible for Sport, instead becoming responsible for Energy, Renewables and Hydrogen, and Minister for Public Works and Procurement.
The renewable energy portfolio is a new addition to Cabinet.
Member for Algester Leeanne Enoch retains the Arts, but adds Communities and Housing, and the Digital Economy.
Cabinet met for the first time on the Sunshine Coast yesterday (Monday).
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the Minister for Hydrogen role recognised the importance of this valuable new energy resource.
She said she expected ministers to focus squarely on the economic recovery and providing services that people need.
“Queenslanders expect us to get on with implementing our economic recovery plan,” she said.
“They expect the roads, schools and hospitals we need and the jobs that go with building them.
“It is our job to get on with the job and that’s exactly what we will do.”
