A man has surrendered to police two days after allegedly hitting a pedestrian while riding an unregistered trailbike at Loganlea.
The pedestrian remains in a coma.
The rider has been charged with six offences.
At approximately 5.40pm on Tuesday 18 February, police allege an unregistered trailbike traveling north on Kingston Road collided with a pedestrian at the intersection of Kingston Road and Battle Street.
“It will be alleged the trailbike failed to remain on scene,” police said in a statement.
On Tuesday afternoon, a 21-year-old man came forward and surrendered himself into police custody at Beenleigh.
Police said he was charged with six offences including dangerous operation of vehicle causing grievous bodily harm, failing to remain at incident and render assistance, operation of a motor vehicle without a licence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and use of unregistered/uninsured vehicle.
He is expected to appear before Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 1 April .
The pedestrian, a 25-year-old Kingston man, was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.
“… and remains in an induced coma,” police said.
