Ride of honour designed by local entrepreneurs

Local husband and wife entrepreneurs Neville and Johanne have designed and manufactured a unique motorcycle hearse for families wanting to take their last ride in an exclusive and original manner.

The original idea is one-of-a-kind and the only one in Australia, they say.

Neville and Joanne always had a dream of building such a vehicle and have been serving families in the community for their final farewell going out in style for over four years.

“I’m from a motorcycle enthusiast family and I noticed that there was nothing for families to honour their lost ones in a manner that suited their lifestyle,” Johanne said.

“So I decided that this should be an option that funeral services could offer families if it suited.”

The local semi-retired couple said they saw a niche market for a motorcycle hearse in Logan and knew they could build it.

Neville built the hearse trailer “to give families something special to honour their loved ones with”.

“The next step was to build it, so I built it in my shed from start to finish based on a fifth wheel system,” he said.

“This increases the stability while riding.”

It took Neille over 12 months to finish the hearse and it was built completely by hand in his back shed.

The couple soon launched their business Ride Of Honour in 2019, which services all funeral homes in the greater Brisbane area from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast.

The couple said Ride Of Honour was for anyone who wanted to take a unique ride to their final resting place.

“We have travelled as far as Grafton for a family that wanted us to provide our service for a much loved dad and husband.

“Every time we use it for a family that has lost a loved one, it has been received with overwhelming thanks.”
