Palm Lake Resort residents are still fighting for justice in the Bethania to Logan Village rail trail saga.
The Bethania stage of the trail will join with the existing Logan Village to Yarrabilba rail trail, opening a 13.5km route from Bethania to Yarrabilba.
In the process, the link will dissect two Palm Lake Resort villages and it’s this decision that has elderly residents fearing for their safety.
Palm Lake residents are holding a meeting at Palm Lake Bethania’s club house on Wednesday 22nd of March at 2:30pm, with Minister for Transport and Main Roads Mark Bailey, and Councillor Shannon Fentiman to discuss their options.
Residents are pleading with council and government to take an alternative route, down High Road and onto Easterly Street, to keep elderly residents safe in their secure gated community.
So far, when it comes to Council, they believe their voices have fallen on deaf ears, even though they have the strength in numbers.
According to Council, the rail trail will provide an economic boost the areas it connects, as well as increase recreational options and bring tourism to Logan.
Construction on the $7million Bethania stage of the trail is anticipated to start in 2024.
