Artists from Logan will take part in a new-look urban art scene.
The plan is to beautify public spaces and busy precincts across the city, with the aim of lifting community spirit and creating eye-catching urban art.
Key focus will be the city’s service hubs, places which attract and help large numbers of people.
The exact nature of the art is yet unknown.
Underpasses and retaining walls could become colourful canvases through the use of murals and artistic lighting installation while footpaths and walkways could be used to engage and entertain pedestrians, a council statement said.
Councillor Jon Raven said urban art was a highly visible and effective way to improve public spaces across the city for locals and visitors.
“Urban artworks play an important role in creating places across our city that people want to enjoy spending time in,” he said.
“That not only creates a point of difference for our city but increasing the appeal of popular public spaces often leads to new opportunities for businesses and more jobs for locals.”
Council will work with local artists with experience and interest in urban art and involve local and regional curators where possible.
