Nominations for the 2025 City of Logan Volunteer Awards are now open, with winners to be celebrated at an annual breakfast and award ceremony at the Logan Entertainment Centre on 17 May.
Two categories will be awarded: Volunteer of the Year and Outstanding Community Organisation of the Year.
The awards acknowledge the efforts of individuals and groups who selflessly give their time to support and strengthen the Logan community.
Last year, Jimboomba resident Sarah Weir was named Volunteer of the Year for her role in the community’s recovery following the Christmas Day storms.
Ms Weir worked with the Rotary Club of Jimboomba to coordinate emergency relief efforts, providing free meals, food donations, laundry services, and support for residents who went months without power.
Support service 4207 Helping Hands was also recognised at the 2024 awards, receiving the Davida Steele Memorial Award for Outstanding Community Organisation.
The charity, founded by Claire Allen, operates on a barter system where donated items are exchanged for grocery essentials and then redistributed to those in need.
Nominations close on 16 March and can be submitted via logan.qld.gov.au/volunteerawards.
