IT’S not every suburban street that ends in a private jetty.
But for Neville Vendor, that’s been everyday life at 52 Sungold Road – a 2.4-hectare Chambers Flat property where his family has spent the last decade.
Down at the bottom of the garden lies Mr Vendor’s favourite feature dam with tranquil waters, where he, friends and family sit every day.
“I spent most of my time down at the dam and on the jetty,” Mr Vendor said.
The property’s dam and gardens set the house apart from others on the street and in the Chambers Flat suburb, Mr Vendor said.
“My neighbours say it’s the best house on the street because of the yards and the way the house looks onto the dam.”
But now, 11 years later, the Vendors are ready for a change of scene.
The family is moving to a 21ha property in Mundoolan, which they bought three years ago and have been renovating.
“We’re sick of living in two places and going back and forth,” Mr Vendor said.
“The other place has got a big house, a swimming pool, and we’ve started renovating it, we’ve done about half so far.”
52 Sungold Road has been on the market for less than one week, but Mr Vendor said he expected a family or ‘land banker’ to purchase the property due to its size and development potential.
The main residence is 28 years old but underwent extensive renovations about five years ago, Mr Vendor said.
“There wasn’t much we didn’t do [in the renovations].
“We put in a new kitchen, new bathrooms, new bedrooms, we extended multiple rooms, and put in a new patio area.
“The house was aging, but it was double brick, which is great to work with.”
Mr Vendor and his wife lived in the property’s second residence, located behind a 22m by 8m industrial shed.
Their adult children and grandkids live in the main residence, which has six bedrooms.
