Police suspect arson at Logan Central

Police investigating the arson of an apartment in Logan Central have released CCTV footage and are appealing for any information that may lead to identifying the alleged offender.

Around 6:35am on September 10, police and emergency services were called to an apartment complex on Croyden Road, Logan Central, following reports of smoke coming from one of the apartments.

The fire was quickly extinguished. Three people were treated for smoke inhalation and transported to hospital. Thankfully, no serious injuries were sustained.

A crime scene was declared and further enquiries determined the fire was deliberately lit in the garage of one of the apartments.

Police have released CCTV showing the man walking down Ewing Road and onto Defiance Road before the incident. Further vision shows him running down the driveway of an adjacent building moments after the fire started.

He is described as Caucasian and was wearing light coloured shoes with red markings on the side, black pants, a grey and black hooded jumper and a dark coloured baseball cap.

Police are seeking assistance from members of the public who may have been driving in the area and have dashcam vision, or those who may have witnessed anything suspicious around the time of the incident.
