Logan police last week spoke to more than 4100 local students in an effort to encourage personal safety.
Parents, carers, and educators were encouraged to start a conversation with children and young people about their personal safety, which including asking them questions like:
- What if someone says they are a police officer but they’re not in uniform?
- If you ask them to prove they are a police officer do they have to show you a badge if you ask?
- Do you follow them to their car to get the badge or do you go get your safe adult?
- What if you are lost and your normal 5 adults are nowhere near by? Who’s the best person to ask for help from?
Students were also learning about body cues, how to get help and how to start important conversations about personal safety.
