Police ping drink drivers, hoons

Like a broken record, police continue to ramp up operations targeting unsafe driving.

Logan District Police ran a two-night operation on Friday and Saturday, February 26-27, and after analysing the numbers, revealed that four drivers were charged with drink driving.

They issued 10 traffic infringement notices for offences including driving a defective vehicle, driving with ground clearance less than allowed, and modifying vehicle silencing devices.

That came from 913 random breath tests.

Sergeant Jason Robertson said police will continue to have a significant presence on Logan roads.

“We’ve had a number of fatalities on our local roads already his year, and we urge motorists to think about the potential consequences that their actions may have if they are not full focussed on driving safely,” he said.

“Motorists should expect to see a significant police presence on our roads over the coming months.”

Further to the random breath tests, officers patrolling the Pacific Motorway in Daisy Hill detected a motorist allegedly travelling at 128km/h in a 100km/h zone.

The man, aged 36, was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driver’s license and is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on March 29.

A woman from Underwood, aged 27, was charged with driving while unlicensed and was issued a notice to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on March 28.
