A local police officer has died while on duty after a firearm was discharged on Thursday 20 July.
The female senior constable, reported to be 48-years-old, died while on duty at Loganholme Police Station just after midday in what police have called “non-suspicious circumstances”.
“It is with deep sadness, the Queensland Police Service confirm the passing of a police officer,” a police statement read.
“The QPS is providing immediate support to her family and colleagues and our thoughts are with them at this very difficult time.”
Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident, with oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commissioner.
