Police halt chase, seek public aid

Police abandoned a car chase on Green Road in Logan overnight on December 14 due to public safety concerns.

Police are appealing for public assistance to identify a group of suspects, believed to be responsible for several offences in South Brisbane.

Just after 11.30pm four people in a silver-coloured Toyota Landcruiser attempted to steal a Mazda CX-5 wagon, parking the vehicle and its driver into a carpark at a rail station in Salisbury.

Two of the men were seen by the driver and were armed with a machete and a hammer.

They attempted to force their way into the car before the driver of the Mazda was able to drive away from the scene.

The driver described the two men to police, with one wearing a black hoodie with a face covering and black shorts, and the other wearing a grey hoodie with face covering, black pants and black shoes.

In a separate incident, police believe the same silver Toyota Landcruiser approached a man in a white Toyota Camry and followed his car from a service station on Sherwood Road, Sherwood at 11.40pm.

Police responded to both incidents and at 11.52pm officers saw both vehicles on Evans Road at Salisbury.

A pursuit commenced that culminated in police stopping the chase on Green Road in Logan.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have seen either the Landcruiser or Camry at any stage in South Brisbane or Logan, or who may have dash camera footage, to contact them.
