The time has come for your Learner Drivers opportunity to join us on our learner drive days! New dates are now available.
If you’re free on Sunday February 27, read on. We are once again offering to provide learner drivers with the opportunity to practice their basic driving skills in a safe and controlled environment with the support of Norwell Motorplex.
Norwell is opening their track to learner drivers and their supervisor to drive around and get used to controlling a car without the stress of oncoming traffic, intersections and other stressors.
Police officers from various units including road policing will attend and coach participating learner drivers on how to safely navigate their vehicles when encountering police on the road.
Learn to safely give way to an emergency vehicle
- Â Be approached by a police car with lights and sirens activated
Learn to safely pull over when being intercepted by a police vehicle
- Â Be intercepted by officers in a police car
Learn to confidently and safely approach and stop for a roadside breath test (RBT)
- Â Be pulled over by police at an RBT set up before exiting the track
We know that road safety is everyone’s responsibility and that these are scenarios that learner drivers don’t often face until they are already on their provisional licence and driving by themselves.
Quite often, the first time a person is intercepted, nerves can take over and they don’t know the best way to react which can quite often put themselves and the police in a dangerous situation by failing to stop in the safest location.
The aim of this program is to prevent this from happening, and help new drivers build a good relationship with police.
