Plans are being explored in order to upgrade a busy connector road.
Preliminary planning and design has begun in an effort to find a safer, more direct journey for commuters on Chambers Flat Road between Logan Reserve Road and Anzac Avenue at Chambers Flat, and Logan Reserve.
Engineers will look at the following possibilities:
• Duplication of Geoff Philp Bridge, Logan Village
• Widening all roads to four lanes
• Adding breakdown lanes on both sides of the road
• Centre median strips
Infrastructure chair Teresa Lane said it was important for infrastructure to stay ahead of expected population growth.
“That’s why Council is investigating options to upgrade these roads as they form a vital connection to major arterial roads such as the Mount Lindesay Highway and the Logan Motorway,” Cr Lane said.
“The road upgrade planning work will also improve flood protection and reduce travel times.
“This is only the start of a detailed process and the commencement of construction will be dependent on future Council budgets and other sources of federal or state funding we can secure.”
Council has contacted residents who may be impacted and will continue to seek community feedback throughout the process.
