Students from four Logan schools were treated with the chance to see The Peasant Prince live on stage alongside its author – world-renowned dancer Li Cunxin.
Students from Woodridge State School, Logan City Special School, St Pauls Catholic Primary School and Greenbank State studied The Peasant Prince book at school this past term.
It is based on Mr Cunxin’s life.
The theatrical production – by Monkey Baa – is now touring Australia.
Mr Cunxin, the former Queensland Ballet artistic director, whose story is also told in the popular 2009 film Mao’s Last Dancer, said it was still an emotional experience to see his story played out by others.
“I was always very impressed with this production from the first time, I thought they did a really good job,” he said.
“They consulted with me on the screen play development.
“I was really happy for them to use their creativity to make the best show possible.
“They did really good research work from the very beginning, and they really respect my story.”
The Logan of the play was the first time Mr Cunxin had seen the new version of the show, which first toured in 2016.
