Park and Ride now open

PEOPLE will be able to save the commute and hop on the bus now that 600 parking spaces and a new bus platform are open at Greenbank RSL.

The park n ride facility is part of a $21 million public transport upgrade at Hillcrest, designed to ease congestion and give locals better public transport options.

Parking spaces include 14 accessible spaces, the bus platform, bike parking, kiss ‘n’ ride, driver amenities and an additional bus layover.

New CCTV cameras have been installed as well as better lighting.

The station revamp links Corporate Place to Blackwell St which Member for Algester Leeanne Enoch said would help better connect with local businesses.

Member for Logan Linus Power said: “The improvements to the Greenbank RSL park ‘n’ ride will allow commuters to easily access bus services in and out of the rapidly expanding area, getting cars off the road and commuters home sooner.”

He said park ‘n’ ride facilities were an important part of the transport network, particularly in high-growth areas.

“With the new bus stop platform and layover bays built, the old Greenbank RSL stops have now closed,” he said.

“Customers can continue to catch routes 140, P141, P142, 535, 541 and P546 from the new stop, which is located about 110m further along Corporate Place.”

Ms Enoch said more than 3200 new park ‘n’ ride spaces would be delivered over the next four years as part of the $160 million park ‘n’ ride upgrade program.

“Throughout the project, the Greenbank RSL park ‘n’ ride upgrade supported more than 50 jobs at a time when maintaining jobs has never been more critical,” she said.
