Local jobseekers with a can-do attitude looking for work in the construction and trade industries can head to the Logan Jobs Expo this week.
Jobseekers will be able to speak with local businesses that provide employment, training and apprenticeship opportunities in the construction, manufacturing and trade industries.
With more than 70 exhibitors expected to show, the expo is being held at the Logan Metro Sports & Events Centre at Crestmead on Thursday 14 September, from 9am until 2pm.
More than 800 locals attended the expo last year, a 17 people securing local employment on the day.
This is part of Mayor Darren Power’s local jobs and skills initiative, which helped 213 people – including 58 youth – find employment in the 2022/23 financial year.
He said the expo was for people of all ages.
“Our taskforce was launched in 2021 to empower local job seekers to unleash their potential and take control of their employment journey,” Cr Power said.
Economic development chair Cr Jon Raven said the Expo also supported local businesses seeking employment-ready staff.
“We know that growing businesses need good staff to provide great service, which is why we want to help Logan businesses find local staff who are ready to work,” Cr Raven said.
