Logan, it’s been a big year.
From surviving wild weather to scoring some world-class wins, our community has achieved a lot, and I’m more grateful than ever to be your Mayor.
When Cyclone Alfred came knocking at the start of March, we stood firm and showed what Logan spirit looks like: services providing support, neighbours lending a hand and everyone looking out for each other.
We also broke bread early in the year at our inaugural Mayor’s Multifaith Breakfast, where so many people of faith joined together to pray for our city.
I’m already excited for the next one in March and tickets are available now at loganarts.com.au
On the financial front, we opened our budget talks like never before, by consulting with the community before big decisions were made and delivered sweeping rates reform.
And the wins kept coming.
Our Wilbur Street Youth Centre had an incredible 40,000 visitors in its first year of operation.
Epic events like our annual Flame BBQ & Music Festival, New Zealand band Six60 performing at KBF, and celebrations for the Toa Samoa and Fetu Samoa rugby league teams brought our community together.
We signed a partnership with the New Zealand Warriors so they could make their Australian home in Logan.
We secured a whopping $160m from the State Government’s Residential Activation Fund to unlock important infrastructure for our growing city.
And last week, we signed an MOU with Griffith University to chase an Olympic-sized dream, bringing a world-class diamond stadium to the city.
With all that and more achieved in 2025, we’re ready for anything the new year might bring.
I want to wish everyone a very happy holiday season, and a wonderful Christmas to those who celebrate.
Council facilities will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, but all essential services – including bin collection – will continue as normal.
You can contact Council any time at council@logan.qld.gov.au or by calling 3412 3412.
Please relax responsibly and stay safe on our roads.
Here’s to an even bigger 2026.
