New tower provides better Jimboomba phone coverage

A NEW telecommunications tower has been switched on in Jimboomba, which the network provider says is providing better mobile coverage and services.

The new tower on Anders St is geared to service 8000 residents in Jimboomba, and according to Optus is providing broader communication options for those working and driving through the area.

Area manager Nick Channell said it was pleasing to be improving the coverage in the area.

“We’re proud to enhance coverage of our … network in regional South Queensland with the addition of a new tower in Jimboomba which has mid and high band 5G deployed in addition to our 4G coverage and capacity layers,” Mr Channell said.

“As we continue to expand our footprint and strengthen the digital economy, Optus aims to help Australians stay connected with a reliable and strong network.

“We are rolling out our best network ever, knowing that our customers want faster download speeds and trustworthy connectivity so they can stay connected to the things that they love.”

Mr Channell said the investment in telecommunications infrastructure and mobile coverage in regional South Queensland was part of an ongoing project to improve coverage, reliability, and speed across the entire mobile network.

He said seven new sites had been built since the beginning of 2020, and this tower would provide new coverage and capacity to the area, offering a competitive telecommunications alternative for residents and businesses in the Jimboomba area, he said.
