Loganholme retirees have a new opportunity to keep busy and make friends with the help of Probus.
A member of Probus for 20 years, Merv Richens said the club got retirees out of their chairs, away from the televisions and into action.
“People who retire might play golf or something, but after a while, they get sick of it and they sit down and just watch TV,” Mr Richens said.
“And leaving the working life can mean losing friends as well.
“So Probus is an opportunity to make new friends, and to have a bit of fun and fellowship.”
Mr Richens said Probus Clubs across Logan host guest speakers, morning teas, lunches, dinners, theatre shows, car and bus drives, tenpin bowling, tennis, Christmas in July and so much more.
“There’s lots of intellectual stimulation, especially from the guest speakers,” he said.
“But beyond that you find that there are people with common interests, and they’ll form a group to go walking every Wednesday or something like that.
“Or they might go to dinner together on Friday nights, or maybe tenpin bowling once a month.
“There are people with many different interests.”
The group will meet on Tuesday 12 September, from 10am to 12pm at the KENG – Tudor Park Community Recreation Centre.
