New fire station to be built at Loganlea

A new $4 million fire station will be built at Loganlea.

State government ministers and Queensland Fire and emergency Services Commissioner Greg Leach were at the station’s Kingston Road site today to spruik the construction launch.

Mr Leach said the new station will be well received by firefighters and the community.

“This is an exciting and important development for the area and the new station will help us continue to meet the growing needs of the community,” Mr Leach said.

“It will better enable our local firefighters to work hand-in-hand with the Loganlea community to prevent and respond to emergency incidents and disasters.

“From this modern facility, QFES can continue to deliver the high standard of fire and emergency services the community has come to expect.”

The replacement station is expected to be finished mid-next year.

Member for Woodridge, Cameron Dick, said the Loganlea Fire and Rescue Station and crews had a long history of protecting their local community, with the station first opening in 1985.

“Anything we can do to support and empower them is a privilege, and this new station will go a long way in boosting frontline capabilities.

“Once the new station is built, the existing station will be demolished to make way for a hard-standing training area, ensuring our firefighters have the ability to complete practical training for the challenges they face every day in their jobs,” Mr Dick said.

Fire and Emergency Services Minister Mark Ryan  said the facility would be state-of-the-art, enabling teams to continue answering the call for help.

Member for Waterford, Shannon Fentiman, said it was essential that firefighters have the necessary infrastructure and equipment they need to fulfil the vital role they play in our communities.

“We are building the infrastructure needed for our fast-growing Logan community,” Ms Fentiman said.

“The new station will also provide spaces for training to ensure the QFES staff are best equipped to keep our community safe.”
