Musical marvel hits Logan

A show featuring the greatest musical hits to exist will play in Logan next month.

The World of the Musicals in Concert showcases numbers from classics like Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera, all the way to modern hits like The Greatest Showman.

The show’s lead and Irishman, Ciarán Olohan, said there was “something in it for everybody”.

“We span a wide range of genres and songs,” Mr Olohan said.

“We like to keep it upbeat – it’s very fun – and we encourage people to sing along, clap along, dance along, do whatever you like to enjoy the show.”

Mr Olohan is currently touring the US with a different show and will start rehearsing for World of the Musicals this week – only two weeks before the first performance.

“A lot of the company has been together for a few years now,” he said.

“Some of us toured in Australia in 2022, some in 2021, and some of us were together for the first tour in 2017.”

He said Australian audiences always gave him a great reception.

“One of my favourite parts of performing down in Australia is the warm and welcoming response from the audience,” Mr Olohan said.

“A lot of people are very forthcoming and will come up to us after the show and say, that’s one of the songs I performed in high school back in the day or performed in a local theatre group.

“That’s really nice that you can really share something with the audience, and it keeps bringing us back.”

Mr Olohan said he personally loved the classic numbers from musicals like Phantom of the Opera the most.

“I’m an old soul,” he said.

“And I wouldn’t be alone in saying that I love Les Miserables.

“I love all the music and it’s something I’ve been going to see since I was a kid.

“Getting to perform numbers on stage like these is something very special for me.”

World of Musicals is playing at the Logan Entertainment Centre on Friday 12 April.
