Local mum and business owner Danielle Boulton bought her first home at age 23.
16 years and two kids later she’s decided to say goodbye to her Browns Plains property, and hello to the “next chapter” of her family’s life.
“It was a three-bedroom little home that looked like nothing back when I first bought it,” Ms Boulton said.
“Then I met my husband, and he moved in with me, and we’ve changed the whole house to suit us as a family.”
Ms Boulton transformed the small three-bedroom, one bathroom home into what it is now – four bedrooms with a large office and two bathrooms.
“The renovations took us about three months,” she said.
“We literally gutted the whole house – took it down to the frames.
“It’s like a brand-new home.”
But for Ms Boulton, the highlight is in the backyard.
“When we shut our gates, it’s like we’re not in Browns Plains anymore – it’s like we’re in our own resort.”
The family installed an inground heated swimming pool that has a solar blanket cover, a pool house with a shower, toilet and television, and a five-seater entertainment spa.
There’s also a large undercover barbeque area, a greenhouse with four raised garden beds, hanging pots and shelves, and a 3000-litre water tank.
“There was nothing in the backyard, so we did our own touches,” Ms Boulton said.
“We like having people over for swims and during the summer, like on Christmas Day, we have everyone come over help themselves to the pool.”
And there’s also a self-sustainable granny flat containing two bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen, and open planned living and dining.
“We built the granny flat so we had somewhere to live while renovating,” Ms Boulton said.
“We’re actually living in at the moment while the property is on the market.
“We’ve got two bedrooms, a kitchen and everything – we still can enjoy the property but not live in the main house.”
She said although they love the home, it was time for a “new chapter in our lives”.
“We want to get someone bigger and better and what we’ve always dreamed of having,” Ms Boulton said.
“My kids are into motocross and they want motorbikes so we’re looking for big property where they can do that.”
She said the property was perfect for anyone, especially large families and business owners.
“There’s just so much potential.”
