Motorbike crash leads to drug and gun charges, North Maclean

A 41-year-old man has been charged with more than 20 drug and firearm offences following a crash involving an allegedly stolen motorcycle.

Police allege they found the man after the Mount Lindesay Highway crash at North Maclean on 19 September.

He was taken into custody the following day after police say they “seized more than 30 stolen vehicles and firearms” during a search warrant at Pallara.

Three people were charged, including the 41-year-old and two others, a man aged 43 and a woman aged 49.

The 41-year-old Pallara man was charged with 24 counts of unlawful possession of motor vehicles, two counts each of possess shortened firearms, possessing dangerous drugs, and unlawful possession of weapons Category D/H/R weapon, and one count each of possess utensils or pipes etc for use, authority required to possess explosives, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. 

He has also received a traffic infringement notices for exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/h, according to police, as well as holding a drivers licence but not authorised to drive class of vehicle (Type 2).

Police say the 31 stolen vehicles they found included motorbikes, cars, a tipper truck, a tow truck and trailers.

A shipping container, excavator, power tools, a quantity of drugs, two firearms, and a flame thrower were also seized.

Investigations are ongoing.
