POLICE say a man who was shot in the leg at Bethania last week was known to them.
At about 11pm last Tuesday night, police went to a Page St unit block where a man inside the unit allegedly held a gun.
A woman he knew was with him.
Police allege the man walked towards officers threatening them with the gun, when police shot him in the leg.
The Bethania man, 48, was treated with first aid before being taken into custody and to hospital.
The woman inside the unit with him was not physically injured.
The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident, overseen by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
