Mabel Park champions diversity

Mabel Park State High School P&C Association were recognised as Diversity and Inclusion Champions at this year’s Multicultural Queensland Awards.

The group of volunteers won the award for their “tireless” work to provide a range of activities to “strengthen cultural and community cohesion”, according to a statement from the Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Leanne Linard.

The school was awarded the accolade after holding the first-ever OCEANIA: Queensland Schools Multicultural Showcase.

This show was “a unique multicultural event” for students from over 30 schools across Logan, Brisbane, Ipswich, Moreton, and Gold Coast.

Participating students showcased both traditional and contemporary performances from the Aboriginal community, Cook Islands, Tahitian, Samoan, Tongan, Māori, and African Nations.
