You asked, we listened – there will be a busway extension to Loganholme, and more.
We’re getting on with the job and delivering better infrastructure and services.
The state government is now doing the detailed planning on Stage 3 Pacific Motorway (M1) – Daisy Hill to Logan Motorway upgrade, including plans for new park ‘n’ rides at Chatswood Road and Beenleigh-Redland Bay Road.
Currently bus travel from the Logan Hyperdome to Eight Mile Plains in the morning peak period takes up to 27 minutes.
The motorway upgrade and new busway means we expect to cut the average morning peak travel time to Eight Mile Plains from the Hyperdome by almost half! – that’s good news in my book.
The plans we’re putting out for consultation will consider and try to balance the needs of motorists, public and active transport as well as amenity for locals.
By alleviating congestion along critical sections of Queensland’s major roads, we’re helping commuters get home sooner, helping freight move more quickly and generating good jobs.
Logan, and the rest of South-East Queensland, will be reaping the benefits for years to come when the project is finished.
This project also represents one of the most significant urban renewal opportunities for our community since its settlement in the 70s, with better roads and public transport, we can expect to see more new and affordable housing options feature around the new busway and cycleway connections.
And importantly it’s a package of works that will also support up to 550 good Queensland jobs.
I know people live in our neighbourhood for the lifestyle, but with this project you’ll have more options to get where you’re going and home sooner, and that means more time enjoying your family and Queensland’s great lifestyle.
