With Logan as her muse, Springwood musician Mia Muze has made “quite a few zingers”.
Ms Muze wasn’t born or raised in this city, but she has all the makings of a local.
“I’ve got quite a diverse multicultural background, which I’ve never really been able to utilise to get ahead or to be noticed – I’ve had to just hustle the whole way.
“I’m Japanese born and half Venezuelan, but I was raised in Sydney.
“I release really unique, original music, pulling on a lot of different influences.”
Ms Muze has spent a large part of her life travelling and living overseas.
“I took my music, representing Queensland, over to America,” she said.
“I like to think that my international connections have definitely linked the other world to us, because I do have a lot of global listeners.”
When she finally resettled in Australia, Ms Muze said she knew she wanted to live in Queensland.
“I really love Logan City – I’m somebody who, as an artist, lives in the space and writes about it,” she said.
“It’s kind of significant for me to be in Logan City and use this area as my inspiration.
“And I really like to connect with the community as much as possible.”
Ms Muze recently undertook beekeeping as a hobby.
“I really enjoy nature, and I love that about Logan – there’s a lot of beautiful land and green spaces,” she said.
“I just released an instrumental track over Easter, which was effectively music and Kookaburras.”
Ms Muze said she has published a lot of music, particularly for an independent artist.
“I’ve published over 13 different works – both albums and singles,” she said.
“As an independent, it has been a real struggle and finally I’ve been able to see the light at the end of a dark tunnel.”
Ms Muze is regularly featured on Logan Radio 101FM’s ‘Songwriter Showcase’ program presented by Stevie T on Monday nights.
She will be performing live at Club Noir in Loganholme on Thursday 18 April.
