Bargain superstore Dimmeys isn’t new to Logan.
But its new store at Logan City Centre has added new life into a precinct which is fast developing a reputation as the city’s go-to point for bargain shopping.
People have tried to compete with Woolworths, but now they’re seeing benefits in being able to combine their bargain power as a shopping destination.
Dimmeys, Price Busters, Shop n Save, Super Smart Discount Furniture Store, Cash Converters, a discount fruit barn and Continental Halal Meats, along with multiple services have stationed themselves at the centre on the corner of Wembley Road and Kingston Road.
There are real estate agents, a doctor, food outlets, a gym, florist, funeral director, specialty supermarkets – Asian, Afghan and Indian – laundromat and others.
And while some have been there longer than others, Dimmeys is the new kid on the block with its 2500 square metres of heavily discounted items.
The store is a household name in Melbourne and is looking to spread the word wider in Queensland.
Staff at the store say strong values of customer service, and a genuine desire to help people are at the heart of the store’s success.
At the new location, they’re more visible and looking forward to being a drawcard for more people to visit the centre.
Customer George Gborie said he was impressed by the new store’s variety and prices.
“It’s amazingly cheap,” he said.
Store manager Steve Beckton said he hopes people will see the value of being able to browse the various stores which are now opened at the centre.
“Dimmeys is a family business, and we’ve been doing this for a long time,” he said.
“It’s really important to us that we’re an active part of our community, so some visitors might be surprised by the level of customer service they receive in our store. It’s something we’ve become noted for.
Price Busters opened in October, and Dimmeys has been open for just two months.
