Loganholme Cricket Club’s second Rocket day will be held from noon-5pm on Saturday 12 September at Tansey Park Sporting Complex at Tanah Merah.
The annual sign-on and club celebration day is named after and dedicated to Rod “Rocket” Rice, one of Loganholme Cricket Club’s former presidents and one of its most pivotal and influential figure’s in the club’s history.
The event will include Smash cricket games, Queensland Cricket inflatables, a sausage sizzle and a chance to meet Brisbane Heat Mascot “Heater” and get pictures taken with him.
The Loganholme Cricket Club bar will also be open, and there will be a meat raffle, along with other games and activities for kids.
Loganholme Cricket Club president Scott Rice said the club was excited to launch this year’s Rocket Day event after last year’s success, adding they had massive responses in their summer and winter campaigns afterwards.
“We feel this is the perfect way to launch the new season, meet new people, grow our club and celebrate the legacy of one of the club’s icons all in one package,” Mr Rice said.
“We’re expecting record registrations again this summer, so if you or your child is keen for a hit this season, then come down to Tansey Park, say g’day and become part of one of the biggest and fastest-growing cricket clubs in the region.”
Loganholme Cricket Club has been a longtime presence in the Logan community, with its founding in the 1980s.
Rod “Rocket” Rice, is father to current president Scott Rice, as well as longterm cricket player Cameron Rice. He also was a former president of Queensland Veterans Cricket and is a former South Brisbane District Cricket Club (Souths) legend.
