Who knew Logan Village had so much talent?
On Saturday 3 October, Logan Village and Districts Community Centre held its Junior Talent Quest in the Lions Club Hall.
Maggie Finley is the secretary of the community centre and said there were 29 participants on the day across all three of its age categories – up to eight years old, 9-13 years, and 14- 17 years.
The 9-13 years category had the most participants.
There were three judges for the Talent Quest; one was a singing teacher at a local school, one was an owner of a performing arts school, and another was a singer.
Each judge had a sheet for each competitor, who were judged on a handful of criteria and scored out of ten.
“The judges had a terribly hard task because the talent was amazing,” Mrs Finley said.
The winners of each group were determined by the number of points awarded, with winners receiving a $100 gift card, runners up receiving a $50 gift card, while the most outstanding performance in any group received a $250 gift card, all provided by local sponsors.
Mrs Finley said the event was very well received, with more seats having to be brought out because of the turnout.
“It was a real successful event,” Mrs Finley said.
She said some of the Talent Quest’s performers were going to perform again later this year for the Yarrabilba Christmas Carol event.
The performances varied, with singers, bands, magic tricks and cultural performances in both song and dance.
Mrs Finley said there were about six volunteers who put a lot of time and preparation into making sure the day ran smoothly.
The volunteers did the sound for the event with their own equipment, hosted the event, sold popcorn and were in the green room too.
The sound checks started quite early, Mrs Finley said, with volunteers ushering the participants.
She said the volunteers at Logan Village and Districts Community Centre were exceptional, earlier this year winning the group contribution award in the volunteer category at Logan City Council’s 2026 People’s Excellence Awards.
As for next year’s talent quest, Mrs Finley says she can’t wait and would love to hold the event at Yarrabilba State Secondary College’s auditorium.
