Logan teacher transforming classroom management

In the heart of Logan, dedicated teacher and behaviour management coach Tarun Stevenson has embarked on a mission to empower educators across Australia.

Founder of Calmer Classrooms, Mr Stevenson has developed a robust methodology aimed to simplify and enhance behaviour management in classrooms.

His unique approach and hands-on experience have earned him the endorsement of educators like Kate, Dean of Junior Secondary at a southeast Queensland high school, who praised his practical and straightforward methods.

“Seeing him work even in my own classrooms with my kids gave me the confidence that he knows what he’s talking about,” she said.

She recommended his strategies, emphasising the simplicity and manageability techniques that boost teacher confidence.

At a local high school, a Master Teacher Peta said she found Mr Stevenson’s guidance particularly useful for new teachers who had limited behaviour management experience.

“Tarun lays it out in a way that it starts here and ends here, and you can do this,” Peta said.

Her experience underlines the effectiveness of Mr Stevenson’s programs to help make behavioural management appear simpler and more accessible, even for those who are new to the teaching profession.

Taylor, a beginning teacher, echoed these sentiments.

She noted significant improvements in her ability to manage classroom behaviour since attending Mr Stevenson’s workshops.

“The PD really helped me to see the issues I was having within the classroom and gave me the strategies to deal with those issues,” she said, highlighting the transformative impact of Mr Stevenson’s training on her professional growth.

Mr Stevenson, an author of two books on the subject, brings not only expertise but also a personal understanding of the challenges teachers face.

“Every week we hear from teachers who feel overwhelmed and ill-equipped to deal with the escalating behaviour in their classrooms,” he said.

From his early days of feeling defeated in the classroom to becoming a beacon of hope for others, his journey is nothing short of inspirational.

Calmer Classrooms offers several pathways for teachers to enhance their behaviour management skills.

These include a online courses for self-paced learning, live workshops for hands-on practice, and tailored training and coaching for schools to meet specific needs.

Tarun’s commitment to education is clear: “Since starting Calmer Classrooms six years ago, we have seen more than 5000 teachers across Australia transform their behaviour management practice through our training and coaching. I truly believe that you, too, can be one of those teachers.”

Educators looking to regain their passion for teaching and spend more time educating rather than managing negative behaviour are invited to join the Calmer Classrooms community.
