Logan supports fire-stricken family

A Tanah Merah family, who lost their home and puppy in a recent house fire, has received overwhelming support from the Logan community.

Brooke and Alex McCleland and their two children were forced to flee their home on the morning of Monday 18 March, as fire ripped through it.

The fire was believed to have started in the garage and the family was rushed to hospital.

Despite escaping uninjured, the Hinchcliffe Street house and almost everything inside was reduced to rubble.

Their puppy, Luna, was killed, and only one of their two cats has been found.

“We are currently in the process of working with insurance to determine a final outcome of the property,” McCleland wrote online.

“Once that happens, we can start the long process of rebuilding our home.

“We are also in the process of trying to find a rental house for our family of four.”

The community has rallied behind the family by donating funds, toys, and clothes.

IGA Loganholme held a fundraiser sausage sizzle and meat-tray raffles to raise money.

A local pet store even gifted a puppy to the family.

“We are all so thankful the kids got out safely and that we live in an amazing and supportive community,” Ms McCleland said.

A GoFundMe set up on behalf of the family has raised $10,000 so far.

“We understand that donating might not be in everyone’s place right now although we wish to thank everyone for their support during this tragic time,” a friend of the family, Melanie Clarke said.

“Passports, birth certificates, family cars and car seats were all lost in the house fire.”
