Logan Santa run gets bigger and better

In just its second year, the Logan Emergency Services Santa Run is set to be bigger and better despite Covid restrictions.

Numerous groups have donated toys and gifts for sick children.

The tradition continues as emergency services teams fire up the engine, don the Santa hats and make the day of sick children a little more bearable and joyous.

The Logan Emergency Services Santa Run kicks off at 9.30am and will get to Logan Hospital around lunch time.

A convoy of vehicles – fire trucks, ambulances, police cars, police buggies and others – will leave Woodridge Fire and Rescue Station on Friday morning, headed for Logan Hospital.

Senior firefighter and event coordinator Scott Edwards said there would be stops along the way at the ADRA Community Centre where gifts and lollies would be handed out to the community.

PCYC cadets, community groups, police dogs, Emergency Services mascots, and personnel would all be part of the convoy. Fire and Rescue, SES and Rural Fire Service, along with ambulance officers, would all be represented.

At the hospital, a few members would deliver the presents, fewer than other years due to Covid restrictions.

“The purpose of the Santa Run is to provide presents and Christmas cheer to families who may not be in a position to purchase presents themselves,” Mr Edwards said.

“This is the second year this event is being held.”

Gifts for children are still being collected at Logan House fire support network, so to give contact Louie Namovski on 0411 826 114.
