Logan residents looking for work with young children can meet employers offering vacancies and traineeships at a free careers event on today, Thursday 17 September.
Early Childhood Workforce Connect will bring childcare services, training providers and prospective educators together at KENG’s Tudor Park Community Recreation Centre at Loganholme.
Running from 10am-2pm, the event is designed to help people work out how to enter the sector or take their next career step.
“Attendees can learn about qualifications, training options and career pathways, as well as meet with local employers who have current vacancies and traineeship opportunities,” Logan City Council said.
The event comes to a city with a comparatively large share of young children.
The 2021 Census counted 24,941 children aged under five in the city, representing 7.2% of residents compared with 5.75 across Queensland.
For jobseekers, the practical opportunity is to speak directly with services about their recruitment needs, while asking training providers about qualifications and study options.
Traineeship opportunities will also be part of the discussion, offering a starting point for people who want to investigate combining employment with training.
The initiative is supported by Workforce Australia Local Jobs Brisbane South East, LoganJobs.com.au, the Logan Office of Economic Development and KENG.
It forms part of Logan City Council’s employment and workforce-attraction activities through its economic development office.
The event is free, with a jobseeker registration page available through Eventbrite under Early Childhood Workforce Connect.
Residents considering a career change can use the session to compare options and discuss the requirements of individual employers and courses.
