Logan bowlers dominate nationals

Logan City Tenpin has again proven itself to be home of perhaps the best team of young players in the country.

Of a Queensland team to compete recently at the national titles in Tasmania, nine members of the 16-person youth and junior team were from the Logan alley.

It was a national titles with a difference – with no Victorian or New South Wales teams, and a New Zealand team which had to go home before the trophies were handed out due to a snap lockdown.

Five of the Logan competitors were named in a national training squad, which is one step outside the Australian team to compete at world championship level.

All competitors won medals, either singles, doubles or teams events.

National squad member, youth girls runner up and national youth doubles champion Emily Bottomley said due to Covid, it was the only big event in the last two years.

“This was especially strange for us, but we won pretty much everything, so it was a very good championships,” she said.
