Centenarian Mary Forsyth has been around a long time, but she insists life is short.
So make the most of it.
The Bethania resident, who last month celebrated her 102nd birthday, stays social, busy and active despite her impressive age.
Born in 1923, she is of European heritage and loves her weekly game of Bingo.
Those around her say she has “the luck of the Irish”, often leaving Bingo with a handful of chocolates.
Karen Rayner, the lifestyle coordinator at the Palm Lake Care where Ms Forsyth lives, said spending time with her was a pleasure and an honour.
“We look forward to more time spent together, especially when it comes to morning tea when a flavoured coffee goes down well,” Ms Rayner said.
“Mary also enjoys attending our morning exercise program… Today our activity centered on muscle strength and Mary was throwing the handheld weights about her like they were made of paper.”
While she is a woman of few words, Ms Rayner did reveal some of Ms Forsyth’s “words of wisdom”:”Life is short, get out and about, don’t sit and dwell on things, and attend as many events as you can, because one day you won’t be so lucky.”
Also, be sure to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.
