Launch party a cultural feast

THOSE in control of the new Kingston Butter Factory cultural precinct say it’s time to ramp up the excitement levels of the “thrilling new venue”.

On April 30, a launch party will headline Logan-raised artist Chris Tamwoy.

The party aims to pay tribute to the city’s proud cultural identity and also includes local artists including singer-songwriter Tania Rose Gibuma, the Imanzi Rwandan Cultural group, Heilani Productions, LUATÈ, MR.MR, the 4114 collective and Te Tai Mauri.

They will perform with a variety of musical, dance, visual and spoken word performances.

Cr Laurie Koranski said the community celebration would be the beginning of a bright and bold new future for the historic site.

The revamp of the venue was a massive investment for council and has already booked in festivals and concerts in coming months.

Public transport is recommended for the event, as limited general parking will be available onsite. Disability parking will be available.

KBF launch party ticket holders can travel for free on Queensland Rail services.

Trains will arrive at and depart from Kingston Station, which is next door to the KBF Cultural Precinct.

A free shuttle bus will also operate from the Logan Entertainment Centre carpark on the evening.

The party is from 5.30pm until 10pm on April 30. The entertainment starts at 6.30pm.

This is an alcohol and pet-free event. Food and drink will be available from a variety of food trucks.

Entry is free, but registration is essential via loganarts.com.au.

The KBF Cultural Precinct is at 270 Jacaranda Avenue in Kingston.
