Kindy to host fundraiser to repair broken playground

In the wild weather ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred brought earlier this year, the outdoor playground equipment at Kent St Community Kindergarten in Beenleigh was badly damaged, and has remained in disrepair.

Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator and parent of a child who attends Kent St, Elizabeth ‘Lilly’ Atwood, said a big tree had fallen on the kindy and that the centre would be holding a fundraising event to cover repair costs.

“Because we’re a community kindergarten, the council covered the cost of fixing the fence and making the kindy safe again,” Ms Atwood said.

“But some of the outdoor equipment was damaged, so we’re holding the fundraiser to replace those for the kids.”

Ms Atwood said the kindy would hold a raffle with up to $800 worth of prizes available to be won.

“So far a local hairdressers has donated like three vouchers for kids haircuts and other small businesses have donated their services too.”

Tickets, which cost $5 each or can be purchased in a group of three for $10, will be available from 1 November.

Winners will be announced by Logan Councillor Karen Murphy via the kindy’s Facebook page closer to Christmas.

Raffle prize donations will be accepted until this Saturday 1 November when ticket purchases begin.

To donate a prize or buy a raffle ticket you can contact Lilly on 0447 443 905.
